Golden- naped Barbet

Common name: Golden-naped barbet

Binomial name: Psilopogon pulcherrimus

Description: 20cm small green barbet of the mountains, with an azure blue forehead extending to its nape, as well as a blue throat. Small distinctive yellow nape feathers form a collar, thus its name. It also bears a distinctive black band from bill to eye.

Call: Triple tap “chut- chut- churrrrrtttt” call

Diet: Fruits and berries, insects

Habitat: Tropical montane forests

Native countries: Borneo

IUCN Conservation Red List: Least Concern, restricted range species

Fun facts: Also known as Kinabalu barbets.
